Harraton House and stables was built by John George Lambton, the third Earl of Durham (a major figure in the history of horse racing) during the late 1880s. It was a large house with many outbuildings and landscaped gardens incorporating a network of meandering paths. During the 1950s the estate was divided into individual dwellings.
